Sankey tank was constructed by Col. Richard Hieram Sankey (RE) of the Madras Sappers Regiment, in 1882, to meet the water supply demands of Bangalore. The tank was also known as Gandhadhakotikere, as the Government Sandalwood Depot used to be located near the lake.

Sankey reservoir was constructed in 1882 and the works cost Rupees 575000. It was linked to the Miller’s tank and Dharmambudhi tank and was built as a safeguard against water shortages, such as that experienced in the Great Famine of 1875-77

Then Central Jail, Now Freedom Park
This is not just another park in the garden city of Bangalore. This is a theme based park which has won many awards for its design. The revamped Central Jail of Bangalore is now known as “Freedom Park” . The 16 acre park has become a recreational centre with an open- air amphitheater that can seat 300 people. This place also have artist exhibitions, museums, book cafe giving the place the status of being a cultural hotspot . This is really a multipurpose park where even a place is allocated for protests and rallies which is a frequent activity in our country.
Nice place to spend time and roam around with greenery and different types of crowd around.

Spread in 22 Acres, Wonderla is a great place for one full day fun. It costs around 600 Rs. (some special discount for IT people, Students, Bulk Booking). If you think it is a place for kids only then its a wrong perception. There are more than 20 rides where kids of age less than 8-9 years are not allowed to take. Water games are much attractive. If you are not been to this place, give a try ! Stats say – More than 27 lakh people in 4 year. Nice and hygienic food is available inside at low cost.
