Have you noticed this butterfly which is seen almost everywhere in Bangalore? They are fluttering all over the city - these butterflies are a part of the migratory swarm. Hundreds of butterflies are found roosting on trees and plants, it is magical indeed to observe this visual treat.

Lepidoptera migration is a biological phenomenon whereby populations of butterflies or moths migrate over long distances to areas where they cannot settle for long periods of time.

Performance details
The Fabulous Adventures of Aditi and Friends (Kannada and English) is a performance for children of all ages, directed by Anish Victor and performed by Aruna Manjunath, Ashiqa Salvan, Ravindra Vijay, Rency Philip, Ruchi Raveendran and Sunaina. Duration: 40 minutes.

Somewhat Like a Balloon (English) is directed by Vinod Ravindran and is suitable for audiences 9 years and above. The performance features Anjali Nair, Anshul Pathak, Rency Philip and Swetanshu Bora. Duration: 80 minutes

Woza Albert! (English) Originally directed by Hartman de Souza, the current version is directed by Ashish D’Abreo (The similarity in surnames is co-incidental). The play features Anish Victor and Sachin Gurjale. Duration: 70 minutes.

Full Meals (English, Kannada and Hindi) is directed Prashanth Nair and is performed by Vaishak Shankar, Kalyani Nair, Raghav Srinivasan, Piyush Agarwal, and Prashant Nair. Duration: 45 minutes.

Jannal and Seethaimark Seeyakkaai Thool are two short solo performances in Tamil, directed by Na. Muthuswamy. Performed by Anandsami. Music by Vedanth Bharadwaj. Duration: 40 minutes.

NGO to help with stray dog issues

There is no political will in Bangalore to permanently solve the issue of stray dogs; though every now and then, there are instances of feral dogs attacking, and sometimes killing, children, BBMP has not taken a single step to curb this menace. During our trip to the Laata village during our Nanda Devi trail , we happened to have a closer look at the lifestyle of the people too. As we trekked up to the summer village of Laata we encountered women who were trekking down with a huge load on their back. We learnt that these women trek about 14 kilometers in all to wash their clothes in the river down the valley .

Bannerghatta Zoo personnel kill a beautiful bird

Bird watchers know that all Flycatchers catch bees, wasps, dragonflies, butterflies and other insects as part of their diet. (Indeed, so do many other birds.)

So…you’d expect the personnel manning the Butterfly Park in the Bannerghatta Zoo area to know that as well. And, when they see a bird catching a butterfly, they would just catch it with a net and release it elsewhere, wouldn’t you?

You’d be…’dead’ wrong.

That’s the right word to use in the circumstances.

“The employers of the butterfly park saw the flycatcher catching some butterflies,the only crime this innocent little bird did was to fill its belly by eating butterflies. They cud have caught it through the bird net and released it but they immediately shot it with the Air gun. This was witnessed by friend and another student who is doing some studies on butterflies. They objected before the act but the zoo keepers did not bother to listen.

I feel that it is insane of zoo keepers to do this. Are they instructed to do so? It looks as if the gun is used for this purpose only. Can’t they think of any better alternative ? We need to stop this or we are going to lose many birds in that particular region. Can someone take this up with the respective authorities ?

Breaking mindset is one of the best things we all can do in daily life. So, what’s the plan for the day.

Waking up at 6, why not today at 9.
2 kms run in park/gym – break the mindset and give a try for 8 kms.
Going office – lets play today.
Why not giving a blue rose to you love.
How about suddenly deciding that today I am not gonna eat anything..
How about calling parent today and talk for an hour.

Almost everything we do in life is a prediction of mind. It can be fooled easily. Give a try, impossibles can’t be acheived but you can reach near to it or one day who knows may be..
