What is Bannerghatta zoo area – We have heard this quite a few times but had never been there. During my 5 years of stay in Bangalore, I never went to Bannerghatta zoo as well. Somehow taking snaps in a zoo looks little odd. A tiger is roaming in 10 meter of boundary and you can capture it .. naa doesn’t excite that much!!
Finally we made a plan at 10 PM night. Thanks to Deepa and her blogs, we were able to spot the place. As usual we reached early to the place before the dawn break. It was again a morning with mist.
But very soon, Sun claimed its existence.
Priyanka and Sushil moved in one direction and I took a different direction. Since it was our first visit, so no one knew where to go. Very soon, we were able to spot Kingfisher and Red Wattled Lapwing.
As we went further, we were able to spot the “White Browed Bulbul” chirping on the trees. Also we came across the Brown Shrike.
As we walked I saw the purple sunbird but it looked different not as beautiful as it normally looks. Actually it was breeding so it looked different.
There was a small pool of water where a Green sandpiper and a Pied Wagtail were drinking water.
Further we came across Black Drongo, Green Bee Eater, Red vented Bulbul and red whiskered bulbul.
There was a very big Banyan tree looking very majestic.

Nice Pictures! But what you have marked as White-Browed Bulbul looks like Yellow-Eyed Babbler to me.

Kumaravel s
Thanks a lot George for putting the comment and clarifying the bird name. We had 3 name doubt for that bird and i guess its a babbler only.
Hi Kumaravel,
Sure Since we struggled in finding the place, we can help you better.
Bird photography area is not enclosed. Its before zoo and just near the New bus terminal which is huge. Its a place where lot of people do jogging. How to go – I will drop you a detail map path. In Short, find out the parking space near bus terminal, but the vehicle there. At the same place you will see lots of tree which is actually the area for birding. If you just see opposite side of the parking space, you will see a rock mountain and down to that some water. Keep following that path, you will see some farm land where you can easily spot kingfisher, flycatcher, drongo, bee eater and many more.. You can go till the end, where you will get the zoo wall and probably you will listen Lions voice very closely..that whole stretch is around 700m to 1Km. And it has tons of birds. Though our finding our not that good. I have seen people who have spotted more than 45-50 birds in one go.
Can I have your email ID Kumaravel. Anyway, I have added the location in the place section of the blog: http://bangalorecaptured.com/place/.
It is just near the parking area, as mentioned.
