On the banks of Kaveri river is a place good for Team outings – Jaladhama Resort in Talakadu. Ferried by motorboat you can reach the resort. You will find yourself land into the silent and serene environment with lots of greenery around. The place has the activities like basketball, swimming, cricket, table tennis, swimming, boating etc. But the playing area is not sufficient. If you want to have an opportunity to use the facilities, you should reach early with your team else other teams would have already occupied. You can enjoy the nice Buffet Lunch especially for non vegetarians.
The place is good only for team outings and for one day visit else you will get bored. In the evening you might get to see few birds like kingfisher, flamingo and ducks. If you enjoy DJ they also have a one hour DJ in the discotheque in the resort. But it feels little odd to have a DJ at such a silent, countryside place. The loud music played for DJ just disturbs the peaceful silence of the place. Shouldn’t we leave some places as it is without disturbing their beauty?
For more info on the resort visit http://www.jaladhama.net/

Some places should be definitely left as it is. Let’s stop messing around with nature.
he he
. right sir. Camera should be allowed though
Nice write up; thanks for the information about the place..
I believe they should ban DJ stuff in such places.. though it might seem fun to them, we can always make them aware of it by sharing our thoughts with them.. People should be educated on how such things ( loud music etc) affect the atmosphere around..
I have always wanted to do something with regard to educating rural people about the wildlife, nature, birds etc; Want to join? Any ideas?
Thanks Prashant. Yeah talked to the management there telling them the effects of this – how it disturbs the birds and other animals also. Also there were around 40 people in the resort at that time but only 3 out of 40 were in the DJ. The silent beauty of the place was not at all tempting the people to enjoy the loud music.
Yeah nice idea to educate people about the nature , wildlife but i guess people in rural areas are more aware of these things rather than the people coming from urban areas. The people from cities go and exploit the beauty for the sake of making money. Making money is not an issue but there is a right place and the right way to do things. The same resort could have options like arrange some bird watching activities, tell people more about the birds and wildlife around.
I totally agree with your views. By educating rural people I meant a different thing.
While I was on Census and few safaris, talking to the guards and few local people revealed that the villagers are the channel for the poachers. There have been many instances where villagers themselves are killing deers and other animals for food and selling the skin later on for few rupees. So people must be educated to stop these things..
We can tackle the urban people who go there and exploit nature etc by educating them though online forums; pushing them to read through our blog and understand our views; C’mon honestly if you think, there are many people in our vicinity who are not bothered about nature, conservation etc. We can push them to understand these things.
And yeah, I am glad you guys spoke to the management there!
Prashant, I completely agree with you on your point of villagers being the channel to poaching. In my opinion educating poor villagers is not going to help. They do it for money and mind you what they get is not big money, its too small for these people doing such business yet too big for those villagers. By educating them you are not addressing the real issue which is poverty. They do this because of poverty. If something needs to be done, it has to address the poverty, create an alternate source of income for them and make them realize that wildlife is only going to benefit them. They loose wildlife, they loose their lives. I once read an article where in a small village, these women opened a grain bank. Simple concept, some NGO helped them getting grains for the first time. After that they would put some part of their harvest into the bank, in their own account. And if someone needs grain, they’ll take the grain from their own bank and next harvest repay the loan in terms of grains. The shopkeeper who used to loot them for grains in their bad times were royally screwed. Simple yet, effective. Address poverty and most of the problems will be taken care of. Money is what drives us and everyone else to do stuff. Had there been no requirement of money we would not have been slogging in office.

Yeah correct Prashant. The urban people can be educated through online forums etc. And even if we are aware but we sometimes do not try to put those things in practice.
We can come up with ideas to spread the awareness in areas or to people who are not internet savvy.
@Sushil, Nice discussion that has been brought up here. So you are actually going one step ahead and talking about ideas. “Educating people at rural places” included what you are talking about. We cannot empty the poverty pot in our country. We can always educate people and let them know that there are more legal and better ways to make money!
Prashant, I completely agree that poverty cannot be completely eradicated but just telling people that there are other better ways to get their earning is going to work either. There aren’t much options out there, hence people have to resort on such means. What needs to be done is to create a new means of livelihood. And that new/alternate will always be dependent on the place and situation.
I believe we both are talking the same thing but putting it different ways. So this calls up for a tea meeting where we can discuss this peacefully.. So decide the venue
Ha ha, I know. Place is already decided Prashant. Our next weekend spot (where ever it is).
